What the standard means

ISO 27001 is an international standard for information security management systems. It provides a framework for identifying risks, managing them and continually improving how information is protected.

It covers the confidentiality, integrity and availability of information. That means considering who can access it, how it stays accurate and whether it’s available when it’s needed.

Certification applies to a defined scope. It isn’t a promise that every risk disappears, or a substitute for checking the requirements of your own business.
